Behind Drivos is a person who rides
Drivos did not start from a business plan. It started because gear had to be bought for our own riding, and some of it turned out to be clearly better than the rest. Those were the ones that ended up on sale to others as well. That is still how the range is built.
We are a specialist online store for motorsport and outdoor gear, based in Joensuu, Finland. We are not a chain and not part of a group. Here is a short account of how we got here, and what that means for you as a customer.
How we got here

2011
It all started at a jump ramp
Before Drivos there was a sole trader business called Jussi Pennanen Show, registered in May 2011. That is where Jussi's career as an entrepreneur began. The work was jump shows, snowmobile trips, guiding and promotional work, and alongside it ran a small online shop. What was for sale was the gear Jussi used himself.
So the range was built, in practice, from what held up in his own riding and what did not. What proved good stayed, the rest fell away. That starting point has not changed.

2014
Drivos got its name
The shop needed a name that would work outside Finland too, and one the online store could stand behind on its own. At the same time Jussi's shows and snowmobile trips were separated into their own business, so the shop could get full attention.
The range leaned heavily on snowmobiling at first, but customer demand quickly took it into motocross, motorcycles and ATVs as well. Parcels went out from an office at Tiedepuisto, and they were packed by hand. They still are.

2017
Our own premises at Raatekangas
After a long search we found the current premises at Raatekangas. We bought them and fitted them out in Drivos colours.
Having our own warehouse meant that some of the products were genuinely on our own shelf, not just a line in a supplier's system. It also gave us an address where a customer can come and collect an order if they want to. Collection is still possible, and we always let you know separately when an item is ready to be picked up. An online store with a warehouse and an address is a different thing from an online store with only a website.

2020
Covid taught us to prepare
Covid threw the market, availability and people's hobbies into disorder overnight. We decided to use the time to develop the shop rather than sit and wait. We expanded the spare parts side considerably, because there was demand for it.
One habit stayed with us from those years and we have not given it up. We tell the customer honestly what the situation is. Including when the news is not the one they were hoping for.

2024
Ten years of Drivos
Ten years is a long time in e-commerce. It holds good years, quiet seasons and a few winters when the snow did not come when it was wanted.
By this point the range covered dozens of brands and parcels had been sent to ten countries. Still, the most important thing was the same as in the first year. When a customer asks for advice, the answer comes from a person who knows what they are talking about.

2026
A new online store
We rebuilt the online store completely on a new platform. It is one of the biggest changes in our history, and it was done for one reason. The old shop no longer served the customer the way it should.
In the new shop browsing is clearer, products are easier to find, ordering is simpler and order tracking works. The work is not finished. We keep improving the shop as we hear what works and what does not, so feedback is welcome.
Where we are now
Drivos is still a specialist online store based in Joensuu. Snowmobiling has been at the core from the first day, and around it we have built a range for motocross, enduro, motorcycling, ATVs, fishing, boating and outdoor life.
We are an official dealer for Klim, 509, TOBE and Jethwear, and the importer for BCA and Enson. In practice that means the products come through the proper channel, product support exists, and warranty matters are handled through us.
What we promise and what we don't
We are not the cheapest shop and we are not the fastest. Most products come from the importer's warehouse through us to you, so delivery takes its time. We would rather tell you that beforehand than afterwards.
Here is what we do promise:
- You get an answer from a person who rides and knows the products.
- You get an honest assessment of whether a product suits your use. Including, when that is the case, that it is not worth buying.
- If a product turns out to be out of stock or your order is delayed, we contact you and look for an alternative. We will not leave you waiting for a parcel that is not coming.
- You are buying from an official dealer, so warranty and product support are in order.
Drivos was founded by Jussi Pennanen, known as a professional snowmobiler. He is still the face of the company and involved in the day-to-day work.
The range now holds over ten thousand products, and not every spare part is reviewed one by one. Riding gear is still chosen by hand, and a new brand is taken into the range only when there is a reason for it. Stock is not brought in just because it happens to be available.
What you will find in the range
The online store carries gear for motorcycling, motocross, enduro, snowmobiling and ATV riding: helmets, riding jackets and trousers, riding jeans, goggles, gloves, boots and protection. The range also includes leisure products, fishing and boating supplies, and spare parts for motor vehicles.
